World Domination Game Mode Idea FA

Hello there,
I came up with an interesting -in my opinion- mod idea for FA.
Basically it is the concept of introducing a new Skirimish style game mode for SC:FA that would work similarily with the World Domination mode of Universe at war, or C&C3 KW. It would basically feature a big 2D map, (fictional, like the one that is displayed in the campaign) divided in smaller areas which would represent maps that the game already features. The basic idea would be for the player/s to conquer a significant percentage of the big map (since each area is represented by one of the game's maps, practically, a skirmish battle would take place with each offensive move the player does to conquer an area). I have not really thought of how exactly the game mechanics would work or if it would be able to be implemented in a Multiplayer form or just with the AI. I just found it interesting as a concept since it would be like adding another strategic layer to the game, above the current one. From the sound of it, it does not seem that easy or even possible but i am not any sort of hardcore modder or anything to know for sure.|||While this does sound like a interesting idea, creating a whole new game type would probably be far too much work for anyone here XD|||brandon007|||Hi,
brandon007|||Domino|||LOL, if we all knew how the world would be a better place :)|||Domino|||Well, i am glad to see that you guys are somehow interested :P
If sometime you are in the mood and you have the time to start a project like that, i think it will be worth it!|||So, pretty much Risk with FA battles?
While this is definitely possible to do using the same method as the multiplayer save mod (saving data to game.prefs), it would be impossible to make it cheat-proof, so it would be an 'among friends' kind of game mode.
Also, if any battles took place in which not all players participated, you'd have to use an external app of some kind to sync up everyone's 'campaign' data, or it would have to be done by hand. It'd be kind of like playing an old turn-based strategy game by email.

Of course just doing the framework this would all be a lot of work, nevermind creating individual maps and scenarios (would players initially fight against neutral/placeholder AIs in each scenario that they conquer, until attacking maps held by other players?), so I wouldn't ever expect to see it done. But it's definitely possible in some form.|||Mithy|||Instead of one planet, maybe this should be more like the Galactic Conquest mode of Empire at War, considering all the maps are supposed to be on different planets? Could work similarly, just planets connected with the quantum network instead of countries, and the point is conquering the galaxy.
HAL 9000|||HAL 9000|||Well all of this is good and well but let's be real here...none of you have an idea of how to do this within the framework of the FA engine. (nor do i for that matter)
Being that there may only be 1-2 modders around who may... it's unlikely to happen being that most of us here are all invovled in ongoing projects.
Resin|||Resin_Smoker|||Maybe do this concept similar to Chromehounds with its Neroimus war? "Persistent Online War", I think it is called. Each Planet or Region would require a certain amount of victories from each player, and each victory would move the Region closer to being controlled by their faction. And once the entire Galaxy has been conquered for the Aeon Illuminate, Cybran Nation, or United Earth Federation, the server operator would hit the big red reset button and start everything all over again. We could even have truly massive "Unidentified Experimental Weapons" show up if a faction is doing particularly badly.
Except with this version of it, we wouldn't pull the plug on the game after 16 wars because we don't give a crap about our consumer base and want to go on to do more worthwhile things like Sonic Freeriders...|||None of you remember Galactic War I take it? It was a project by some modders that produced something similar to the galactic conquest mode of Empire at War or TA when Boneyards was around. I think they actually got it so that the GW program would interface with GPGNet to set up the games. But it was abandoned about 2 years ago due to a lack of support, just like so many other ambitious projects.
